Prof. Trächtler received the Eugen Hartmann Award of GMA and the Measurement Technology Award of AHMT (Arbeitskreis der Hochschullehrer für Messtechnik e. V) for his scientific work in 1998. From 1998 to 2004, he worked with Robert Bosch GmbH, lastly as manager of the Predevelopment Chassis Systems division. Since 2005, he has been professor and head of the Chair Control Engineering and Mechatronics at the Heinz Nixdorf Institute of the University of Paderborn. Simultaneously, he led the Fraunhofer Project Group for Mechatronic Systems Design in Paderborn. Outside university, Prof. Trächtler commits himself to the Association for German Engineers (VDI/VDE-Gesellschaft) for Measurement and Automation Engineering (GMA) and to the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC).
The academy acknowledges Ansgar Trächtlers’ achievements in the fields of intelligent technical systems and systems design, in the formation of Fraunhofer IEM and his involvement in the Leading-Edge Cluster it's OWL. Since January 1, 2016, he has been executive director of Fraunhofer IEM.
