IoT Xperience Center

Long development times, complex products and a lack of expertise in modern technologies repeatedly present companies with product development challenges. At the IoT Xperience Center, we support you in identifying the potential that Internet of Things (IoT) technologies hold for your own products and production systems, and in developing and testing new ideas.

Concept

At the end of 2020, the IoT Xperience Center moved into the Research and Innovation Center at Zukunftsmeile 2, Paderborn. On a floorspace of 750 square meters, the new lab brings the Internet of Things (IoT) to life with R&D projects covering the entire product life cycle. In the new premises, you will gain access to methods, applications and state-of-the-art IoT technologies such as a 5G campus network. You will learn about trending topics - from connectivity and data analytics to digital twins - in a hands-on manner.

At the same time, the IoT Xperience Center creates space for collaboration between industry and research. Our aim is to promote pre-competitive cooperation between the companies involved. Requirements, competencies and resources are pooled in a targeted manner, development times are shortened and networking between experts from science and industry is encouraged.

Target group

The IoT Xperience Center is a central meeting place for the Internet of Things, where development partners work together to prepare and implement IoT projects. Whether for the Smart Production, Smart Home or Car2X Communication sector, our infrastructure provides the ideal conditions for advancing innovative projects. At the same time, we are establishing a sense of community between industry and research to promote the development, application and dissemination of the latest IoT technologies across a variety of disciplines and sectors.

Service offering

As a partner, you can access the research services as well as the methods and tools offered by the Fraunhofer Institute for Mechatronic Systems Design IEM and use the IoT Xperience Center as a real-world laboratory and innovation center for your own IoT projects. We work together to implement co-working activities and co-engineering of innovative products and demonstrators. Together with you, we devise workshops and training courses that also involve the machines and demonstrators available on site. What’s more, by running lab tours, we familiarize national and international visitor groups from science, industry and politics with the work of the IoT Xperience Center. Company-specific workshops and training sessions, open training courses and networking events are also a possibility.
